FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. — Beginning Wednesday (Sept. 6) new DACA applications will not be accepted.  President Donald Trump has ended the program, Attorney General Jeff Sessions said Tuesday (Sept. 5) morning.  No questions were taken after Sessions made the announcement.

Sessions said that government departments recommended a ‘wind down’ of this program.  “This will enable the Department of Homeland Security to create orderly change,” said Sessions, “this is the responsible thing to do.”

In 2012, the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals — DACA — was established under President Barack Obama.  It protects some undocumented immigrants who came to the United States as children. It has shielded about 800,000 immigrants from deportation, according to the Pew Research Center.
