Iconic Photojournalists Join Public Lecure

FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. – The Center for Ethics in Journalism announced the addition of two award-winning photojournalists to the public lecture Wednesday, Oct. 7.

John Filo, who won a Pulitzer Prize for his photograph of the Kent State shooting, and Jeff Widener, who was a Pulitzer Prize finalist for his picture of the Tiananmen Square “tank man,” will join Visiting Distinguished Professor David Handschuh for his public lecture, “Photographs That Changed Us.”

“The two photographers and their images represent two iconic moments in contemporary global history,” said David Handschuh, visiting distinguished professor of ethics.

There are no better photographers to talk about “Photographs that changed us,” Handschuh said.

Filo and Widener will call-in via Skype to discuss their experiences taking news photographs and take questions from the audience about photojournalism ethics.

The lecture begins at 7 p.m. Wednesday at the Janelle Y. Hembree Alumni House at Razorback Road and Maple Street.
