Ogilvy is a global advertising agency with clients like Verizon, Coca-Cola, Nestle and Dove. Pierce has worked for the company for 17 years, including as the global Dove masterbrand lead from 2015 to 2022. During that time, Dove campaigns earned multiple awards, including Effie’s Most Effective Brand of the past 50 years, AdAge’s top campaign of the 21st century and numerous Cannes awards.
In his current partner role, he serves on the Nestle global team and is the global lead on Perrier and special projects.
“Sam has a cool professional trajectory that will inspire our students,” said Gina Shelton, director of the Center for Media Ethics and Literacy. “He’ll discuss some of his award-winning projects and talk about the future of the industry, the importance of ethics in advertising and how our students can build careers as storytellers in the advertising world.”
Pierce has a bachelor’s degree in advertising from the School of Journalism and Strategic Media and received his master’s from the University of Texas at Austin. His career has taken him to Los Angeles, New York and now London.
His talk at 11:45 a.m. in Kimpel 203 is open to all students. He will also speak to two sections of Advertising Principles.
This event is the final in the Center for Media Ethics and Literacy’s September Speaker Series. The series invited four professionals in journalism and advertising and public relations to give students career advice and ethical guidance in their respective fields.
